Energy Saving Compact Induction Lamps - (CIL) Bulbs

We are the exclusive Canadian distributors for Eon Compact Induction Lamps (CIL bulbs) - the light bulb of the 21st Century!

The CIL bulbs offers a direct, screw-in, replacement for Incandescent and compact fluorescent lamps with energy savings up to 80% and a lifespan of 60,000 hours.  They will be available in 15W, 18W, 20W, 23W and 25W, Warm White and True White models.

AVAILABLE IN LATE Q1 of 2011

Compact Induction Lamps

Features:

  • Energy efficient, direct replacement, for Incandescent and CFL lamps - Replace a 100W incandescent with an 18W CIL bulb.

  • Lasts up to 60 times longer than incandescent lamps, and 12 times longer than Compact Fluorescent Lamps.

  • 25 Year limited warranty (estimated lifespan 60,000 hours).

  • Available in Warm White and True White colour temperatures.

  • Electronic ballast features high power factor (>0.90) to save energy

  • Environmentally friendly with less than half the mercury of CFL lamps and the mercury is in sold (amalgam) form to prevent contamination in the case of accidental breakage.

Benefits:

  • SAVE ENERGY AND MONEY - Uses about 80% less energy than the incandescent lamps it replaces

  • LONG LIFESPAN - Save time and money on replacement lamps

  • ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY - Flicker free, instant on/instant re-start

  • EASY INSTALLATION - Edison (E27) base - no need to change your fixtures as the CIL bulb screws directly into existing sockets

Applications:

  • Wherever screw-in incandescent and CFL lamps are used

Basic Technical Data

Our CIL Bulbs will be available in 15W, 18W, 20W, 23W and 25W models in either Warm White or True White colour temperatures.  The CIL bulbs are more energy efficient and cost less than LED lamps!
The CIL bulbs are available in 110V/60Hz models for the NAFTA market, and in 220V/50Hz models (by special order) for other markets.  The standard models come with Edison (E27) base - we are working on B22 base models

AVAILABLE IN NOVEMBER 2010

Why would I buy a $30 Light Bulb?

While spending $30 on a light bulb might seem like a lot of money, in the long run the savings far outweigh the initial cost of the lamp.  To take some practical examples using average retail prices:

  • A 100W incandescent lamp costs $0.50, and lasts for about 1,000 hours of operation on average.
  • A 26W CFL bulb (which can replace the 100W incandescent bulb) costs $5.00 and lasts for 6,000 hours of operation on average
Over the 60,000 hour lifetime of one 18W Compact Induction Lamp (CIL bulb), you would have to purchase:
  • 60 replacement Incandescent lamps costing you approximately $30.00 or;
  • 10 replacement CFL lamps costing you about $50.00.

The cost of the CIL light-bulb pays for itself just in the money saved buying replacement light bulbs.... not to mention the time and effort saved going to the store for replacements!

But There's More...

Power Factor:  You are being robbed by CFL lamps with high power factors - the hidden electricity vampire.  All electrical equipment which incorporates a ballast or control circuitry, wastes some energy in that ballast or control circuit.  The Power Factor (Cos Phi) of an electrical device is a measurement of how much work the device is doing with the power it consumes - in this case light output from the light-bulb.

  • A 100W incandescent lamp uses 100W of energy and has a power factor of 1.0 - 100% of the energy supplied to the lamp is used to produce light (and heat).
  • A 26W CFL bulb (which can replace the 100W incandescent bulb) uses 30.5 watts of energy and has a Power Factor of 0.67 - almost 33% of the energy supplied to the lamp is wasted!
  • An 18W CIL bulb (which can replace a 100W incandescent bulb) uses 18.7 watts of energy and has a power factor of 0.9 - only 10% of the energy supplied to the lamp is wasted!

Energy Savings:  The CIL bulbs also offers significant energy savings.  With the cost of electricity rising all the time, reducing your power bill puts money in your pocket!
  • A 100W incandescent lamp consumes 100W of energy - no energy savings.
  • A 26W CFL bulb (which can replace the 100W incandescent bulb) consumes 30.5 watts of power - an energy savings of only 69.5%
  • An 18W CIL bulb (which can replace the 100W incandescent bulb) consumes only 18.7 watts of power - an energy savings of 81.3%

Quality of Light:  Many people complain they do not like the quality of light produced by CFL lamps.  This is because the CFL lamps flicker 50 or 60 times a second (depending on the country you are in).  Our CIL lamps operate at Megahertz speeds giving a smooth, even light output with NO flicker.  Unlike the "curly tube" CFL lamps, our CIL lamps are light-bulb shaped, without the need for a light reducing plastic cover, so they can easily be used with clip-on lampshades.

Summary...

The chart below summarizes the total cost of ownership of the CIL lamp over it's 60,000 hour lifetime showing you why a $30.00 light bulb can save money on replacement lamp and energy costs:

  • Save $487.80 compared to using 100W Incandescent lamps!
  • Save $90.80 compared to 26W CFL lamps!

Lamp Comparison

The photo below shows a comparison of the screw-in lamp technologies.  On the left is a standard 100W incandescent lamp; second from the left, a 26W "curly tube" Compact Fluorescent lamp (CFL); Second from the right, an 18W "Warm White" Compact Induction Lamp (CIL bulb); and on the right, an 18W "True White" Compact Induction Lamp (CIL bulb).

  • The Brightness of all of the lamps appears similar as the 18W Compact Induction Lamps (CIL bulb) can replace the 100W incandescent lamp while producing the equivalent light levels with an 81.3% savings in energy use!

  • The colour temperature of the Warm White 18W CIL lamp (3rd from left) most closely matches the colour temperature of the incandescent lamp (far left); while the "curly tube" CFL lamp (second from left) appears more orange/pink than the incandescent lamp (far left).

  • The "True white" 18W CIL bulb (far right) provides a bright and pleasant white light without the "cold" look typically seen seen in the "Daylight" type CFL bulbs.
